I’m often asked which are the most important or most nutritious fruits and vegetables. My answer is any fruit or vegetable is better than none. Challenge yourself to hit all five color groups: green, red, white/brown, yellow/orange and blue/purple.

Delicious and Nutritious: Make 10 percent of what you eat icing on the cake

Happy March. March is National Nutrition Month, and each year in our research clinic, the staff invites our patients to participate in our celebration. We serve a delicious spread of food and everyone goes home with a bag stuffed with coupons, samples and recipes. My favorite part of this event is dispelling the myth that nutritious food doesn’t taste good. I have to admit that as a registered dietitian, one of my biggest pet peeves is hearing someone say, “Well, if it tastes good, you better spit it out.” (more…)
