Thank you, bloggers! (Plus: New health, mom and Boomer sites to discover.)
Hi. It’s managing editor Leigh Ann Hubbard. I’m hijacking the blog again.
We’ve had some wonderful mentions online lately, and I wanted to share them with you. Sites that feature us usually have some readers similar to ours, so I thought some of these blogs might interest you. Happy browsing!
HEALTH BLOGS:
- WalkingSpree is giving away a subscription to JHMFD. WalkingSpree is an online “walking wellness program …. Members step with a 99% accurate USB Omron pedometer in a web 2.0 walking community.”
- WLS Walking Buddies (”a group of weight-loss patients walking, and encouraging each other along a healthy lifestyle”) did a fun video review featuring the WalkingSpree contest and our free preview issue (PDF). (The review starts about a minute-and-a-half into the video.)
- Cathy at A Life Less Sweet gave away two of the subscriptions she won in our Twitter Small Steps contest. Cathy blogs about her family’s journey as they “give up foods containing high fructose corn syrup and strive to eat healthier.” (We’re doing a debate on HFCS in our next issue, by the way.)
- Basil & Spice–”author and book views on a healthy life”– featured a guest post from Dr. Hubbard, “Is Holiday Weight Gain Inevitable?”
- Health Management RX quoted Dr. Hubbard in “7 Ways Healthcare Will Surprise You Next Year.” They provide “commentary on trends, news, and ongoing conversations surrounding patient care processes of the future.”
- TeethRemoval.com, “making you think twice before wisdom teeth removal,” mentioned our article on how to boost your immune system.
MOM BLOGS:
- Amy at Mom Spark reviewed JHMFD and featured us in her gift guide. (Check it out; lots of unique gift ideas.) Mom Spark is a place for moms “to bond, discuss and share funny stories, recipes, tips, demonstration videos, favorite things and fabulous giveaways!”
- Homemaker Barbi (”Run your home. Save your money. Love your life.”) invited Dr. Hubbard to write guest posts. His first is “9 Tips for Keeping Kids Healthy in Winter.”
BABY-BOOMER BLOGS:
- Jackie of Aging Backwards included my tip to “Start the Day ‘Rite’” in her article on LifeTwo, “a community-driven life planning and support site for adults who have recognized the speed at which days are passing by.”
MORE HEALTH BLOGS:
These kind folks linked to one of our articles or blog posts in the last couple of months.
- Living Healthy in the Real World, “Life Lessons: Food Photo Diary” (linked to personality disorders post)
- John Is Fit: My Journey From Fat to Fit, “Read Some New Healthy Lifestyle Bloggers” (linked to fibromyalgia post)
- The Fight for Fitness: Fighting for a Healthier and Happier Lifestyle, “Good Stuff I Read This Week” (linked to autism in rainy counties post)
Did I miss anybody? (If you’d like to review the magazine, please just shoot me an e-mail.)
I may make this “thank you” feature a monthly thing. What do you think? Is it at all interesting–perhaps you could find new blogs and businesses?
Thanks for your feedback.
