Pitching Guidelines: JHMFD's
target audience is adults who are concerned about
their health and that of their families. We suggest that you contact
Leigh Ann before mailing a sample of any product. She may not be able
to respond to every e-mail but will do so if she feels your product
fits our needs.
- Doctors and hospitals:
We are mostly interested in mainstream health-care providers (especially doctors) who would like to write for us or
contribute photos (such as dermatology photos) for articles (credited,
of course).
- In addition, we feature practical, interesting tips from mainstream health-care providers (doctors, pharmacists, registered dietitians, etc.) in each issue. Please send any any time. They must be direct quotes and around 75 words or less. Download a PDF of samples here.
Common Featured Products:
- Books written by mainstream health professionals.
We excerpt a paragraph or so from each of around four books for our
"Graphs" page in each issue. Click here to see some of the books we've featured.
- Testable products. In "To the Test," we ask
readers and an expert to test a product and offer feedback. We're
always looking for a good product to test that has a pretty wide
audience. In previous issues, we've featured Z Trim Fat Replacement Gel, the Hoopnotic TravelHoop and DVD, the Talking First Aid Kit, online gyms and lactose-free products.
- Web sites. Check out our "Links" page for examples. (Usually featured on our Web site only, not in print.)
- Charities.
We regularly profile medical charities that have a Charity Navigator
rating of four or five stars.
