Study: Find the Best Hospitals |
![]() Go to the hospital, come out alive. That’s the goal. And it’s more likely to be met if you patronize the best of the best, says HealthGrades, an organization that rates doctors and hospitals. In their recently completed study of almost 5,000 hospitals, HealthGrades found that nearly 160,000 lives could have been saved if all hospitals performed as well as those in the top 5 percent. Upper-tier hospitals had a 28-percent lower mortality rate and a 5-percent lower complication rate. HealthGrades does say it factored in the fact that hospitals that treat sicker patients would naturally have more deaths.
