Dr. James Hubbard

A family practitioner for over 25 years, James Hubbard, M.D., M.P.H., knows the medical world inside and out. He created some of the most successful family practices in Mississippi. And in 2003, frustrated by managed care and the lack of time doctors were able to spend educating patients, Dr. Hubbard made a radical career change, launching what he then called Family Doctor: The Magazine That Makes Housecalls,* a national magazine written by health-care practitioners for the general public.

Where to Find Dr. Hubbard

Dr. Hubbard contributes regularly to the print edition of James Hubbard's My Family Doctor and to the online blog and interactive forums

Dr. Hubbard remains on the front lines of health care—seeing patients part-time while he publishes the magazine. “James Hubbard's My Family Doctor,” Dr. Hubbard says, “provides a new way to connect doctors and patients across the country. My goal is to give people the information they need to make informed decisions about their health, so they can live healthier, more fulfilled lives.”

Educational Background

Dr. Hubbard graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in the top of his class. A member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (for the nation's top medical students), he was then chosen for the highly acclaimed Parkland Memorial Hospital internship in Dallas, where he trained in internal medicine.

Dr. Hubbard went on to establish two of the most successful medical practices in North Mississippi. He has earned a Master of Public Health, is board certified in occupational medicine and is a fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians.
